For more indepth discussion, I would also be interested in talking with you directly. You can reach me at 706-363-0335 or email me at "seoscale [at] gmail [dot] com.

Thanks again for the great comment Chris!

Tablets have certainly opened the door for easier access to business information. But, with this comes risk. Here at Symantec, a recent survey of more than 3,000 SMBs, 42% ranked mobility in their top 3 IT risks, making it the leading risk cited by organizations. And, 21% said they lost data due to mobile computing. SMBs that choose to embrace tablets and other mobile devices should consider developing a mobile strategy that defines the organizations’ mobile culture and aligns with their security risk tolerance. SMBs need to remember that these devices are access points to the cloud, and they need the same multi-layer protection you apply to other business endpoints.

Chris Halcon
Symantec

Re: Pinterest iPad App Coming Soon

But I realised I was wrong after visiting a site. This site has helped me loads and it is the reason why I currently own a Kindle Fire and not an iPad. The site is : http://treyhall.tk

Re: How Android Tablets Can Beat The iPad

Thank you. Yes a solid platform is necessary and the immediate comparison to the I-Pad will happen, an easy story for some to write. Can or will Google compete on price alone and will that marginal difference sway consumers is a good question.

A game changer would be 4G bundle with a zippy price but that would require Google to go big and could override the I-Pad Hardware advantage. Amazon could do the same with an expansion of its wispernet on its larger and likely more expensive Fire 2.

In my opinion the least important factor in the decision to purchase a device is the operating system and the success of alternatives to Apple e.g. Android is tied to price and performance.

Re: How Android Tablets Can Beat The iPad

Thanks for the great comment geek - I firmly believe that Google Play is a window through which we can look and gain insight into Google's long term strategy, and commitment, to the Android tablet market.

I've been having this discussion over on WSJ as well and I'm firmly seated in my belief that Google Play is a tablet strategy first, and then a ubiquitous content platform second.

Join in on WSJ here: http://online.wsj.com/article/...

I think Google understands, looking at the success of the iPad and now the Kindle Fire, that content platforms accompanying tablets matter. And if Android tablets are going to succeed in the tablet space, then a content platform must be present.

Re: How Android Tablets Can Beat The iPad

I agree that the digital publication and blog tech stories miss the point and content, price and then performance will influence what consumers buy. Frankly it is just easy to make the story about coke versus pepsi (Apple versus the world) and that is what most of the reports focus upon. Worse many cite each other as the source with many citing Digitimes who have a track record for predictions on par with Jeannie Dixon. I am not willing to predict what Google will do, they don't have a corporate track record other than sales of information. Apple is easy, well designed products with a price that protects their up end profit margins. Amazon is selling competent frugality, where price matters and so does consumer satisfaction.

I envision Amazon introducing new products in the next 60 days, not months. There latest sale to clear out refurbished Fires at a Fire sale price is a very good indication that a new model will be available very soon. Amazon will continue its current strategy where price matters and will not be offering a product that goes head to head with Apple.

Google is a wild card and how motivated or vested they are in pushing Android is a good question as is why and that discussion would make for good reporting versus gossip.

Re: How Android Tablets Can Beat The iPad

Pretty sure the 7 inch Nexus tablet is coming by summer - what are your thoughts about your Prime? Was it worth what you paid?

Re: How Android Tablets Can Beat The iPad

Here's hoping that $200 Nexus tablet comes to play. I'd buy it in a second to go with my Transformer Prime. Besides, I have found a need for a second screen for things like schoolwork (I hate papers scattered everywhere like they are now). 7" preferred.

Re: Kindle Fire 2 Orders Leaked At Catcher Technology

probably not a bad idea - I know for a fact that Amazon has been hard at work responding to customer complaints which means that next iteration of Fire's will probably be 100% better - so well worth the wait
